Malbec from old vineyards planted in the early decades of the 20th century on ungrafted vines in clay soils in the traditional wine-growing areas of Mendoza: Las Compuertas and Vistalba. 50% comes from Las Compuertas at 1,100 meters above sea level, vines planted between 1920 and 1940 in sandy-clay soils. The other 50% comes from Vistalba at 1,000 meters above sea level, vines planted in 1908 in sandy-clay soils and rocky subsoil. No herbicides or systemic products are used in the Riccitelli vineyards; instead, agroecological farming practices are employed. The grapes are destemmed and then naturally gravity-fed into small concrete tanks, where fermentation takes place with native yeasts at temperatures between 26°C and 28°C. We then carry out a very gentle process to reduce the cap of pomace and achieve a slow extraction. The wine is then aged for 16 months in French oak barrels of varying uses.
